I am sad to write that singer and philanthropist Lou Rawls has loses his battle with lung cancer this morning. He was 72. He was hospitalized last month for treatment of lung and brain cancer. We all know him best more recently for his charitable activities. He founded the Lou Rawls Parade of Stars Telethon, which raised millions of dollars every year for the United Negro College Fund. An accomplished singer, he won three Grammys and is has sold more than 40 million albums. He also also appeared in a variety of TV shows and movies and has done voiceover work for many commercials, including, at one time, spokeperson for Anheuser-Busch.
He is survived by his wife and 3 children.
Rest In Peace.
