Looks like a pays to play a pimp. Terrence Howard has been nominated for his role in Hustle & Flow (Best Actor). Scanning the list of nominations it looks like he is the only black person nominated in a major category. The movie Crash also received nominations for Best Movie and Best Original Screen Play.
